He is the Director of Institute of Water Pollution Control at Shanghai Jiao Tong University of SJTU. He received his B.S. and M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Lanzhou Jiao Tong University in 1985 and 1988, respectively. He received the Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Tongji University in 1999. As a visiting professor, he worked in School of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Georgia Institute Technology in 2006.

Yiliang He has reached many achievements in the field of water pollution control. He was one of PIs of “Water Project”, which is State Important Sci-Tech Special Projects. Meanwhile, he got some fundings supported by National Natural Science Fund of China, Shanghai Key Science & Technology Projects, etc. Especially, in the CREATE Program, an international cooperational Program between SJTU and National University of Singapore (NUS), he was designated as the PI of CS-B, and took a positive part in the plan, organization, proposal writing, and project argumentation. Based on this program, he has been appointed to be a visiting research professor by NUS from 2013 to 2017.
