SJTU provides different kinds of scholarship for excellent applicants, such as Chinese Government Scholarship, Shanghai Government Scholarship, SJTU Scholarship, and others.
Incoming international graduate students have two options for scholarship applications: through Shanghai Jiao Tong University or through Chinese Embassies/Consulates in their home country. Applicants may choose only one application channel, as submitting duplicate applications through multiple channels is not permitted.
1.Apply through Shanghai Jiao Tong University
For master’s programs, scholarships consist of the CGS/SGS Scholarship, SJTU Scholarship, Tuition Scholarships and School/College Scholarships. Details about each scholarship can be found in the application system.
When applying at http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/ applicants should choose “apply for scholarship through SJTU” and follow the online instructions. It is important to complete the scholarship application procedures on time, according to the university's requirements. The agency code for SJTU is 10248.
The sooner an applicant completes the application, the sooner he or she will receive an admission offer and scholarship, provided the university's review results are positive. Applicants can check the scholarship result through the application system.
2.Apply through Chinese Embassies/Consulates in the home country
Applicants may also apply to the Chinese Embassies/Consulates in the home country for scholarship opportunities. The application schedule varies from country to country (usually from November to April).
Please consult the Chinese Embassy/Consulate about its application schedule, eligibility, requirements, procedures, documents, agency number, program category type and so on in advance. For the contact information of Chinese Embassies/Consulates, please visit the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China at http://www.fmprc.gov.cn/mfa_eng/.
Please note that applicants applying for scholarships through Chinese Embassies/Consulates must also apply on the university’s website following the HOW TO APPLY guidelines outlined in Article 3 of this 2025 SJTU International Graduate Admission.
