Program Overview:
The 2019 International Graduate Summer School — Green for Life will be organized and hosted by China-UK Low Carbon College, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Focused on the frontier lectures, seminars, enterprises visits and study tour within low carbon area, the International Graduate Summer School aims at facilitating academic communication, motivating scientific research and innovation, thus encouraging all the participants to make further achievements in professional sectors.
Highlights
For 2019, by introducing a brand-new module — study tour, the International Graduate Summer School of China-UK Low Carbon College will be divided into four parts. In the frontier lectures, we will concentrate on topics such as carbon accounting, carbon finance, sustainable energy, energy saving and emission reduction, the utilization of carbon resources and so on. During the seminars, students will be encouraged to team up based upon their own interests, have round-table discussions and draw up preliminary research plans. Each team is supposed to make a final report, the committee will make inquiries and comments according to their performances. As for the field trip, students will pay a visit to enterprises and make relevant investigations there. Finally, the participants (especially for the international students) will take a study tour to experience in person the practice of low carbon idea as well as local cultural charm.
On the basis of consolidating strategic partnership with the University of Edinburgh, we have got the ever-increasing applications from our new cooperative counterparts such as University College London, the University of Western Sydney, Monash University, Technological University of Malaysia- UTM, etc.
About LCC
China-UK Low Carbon College, established by Shanghai Jiao Tong University together with its UK counterparts such as the University of Edinburgh, is one of the joint institutes under Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Strongly supported by Shanghai Lingang Area Development Administration, China-UK Low Carbon College is a pilot program as regards international collaborative education in carbon resources management. Customized open courses and curriculum in carbon finance, carbon management and circular economy will be delivered with forward-looking contents and appropriate flexibility in LCC, accommodating diversified learning needs of people in different areas and at different levels from institutions and entities that related to low-carbon area, so as to cultivating much more professional and creative experts, businessmen and executives in the field.
About Faculty
We plan to invite five senior professors from the University of Edinburgh, five experienced professors in the sector of environment and energy from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (the participants are as follows) and three experts from low carbon industry.
