Bio
  • Dr Aristides E. Kiprakis is a Senior Lecturer in Power Systems and Director of the MSc in Electrical Power Engineering and the 2-year MSc in Advanced Power Engineering at the School of Engineering of the University of Edinburgh. As a member of the Institute for Energy Systems he conducts research in control systems, renewable energy conversion and integration, smart grids and energy efficiency.
  • Dr Kiprakis is the Principal Investigator of the £2.5M EPSRC Centre for Advanced Materials for Renewable Energy Generation (CAMREG) and the £160k UKIERI-DST funded Data-Driven Intelligent Energy Management for Environmentally Sustainable Energy Access (D-DIEM) project. Overall, he has been involved as Investigator and Work Package Leader in UK, European and International projects with a total budget in excess of £60M, in the areas of renewable energy, smart grids and control engineering.
  • Dr Kiprakis currently leads a group of 11 Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers (with an additional 4 PhDs graduated). In collaboration with his group he has co-authored more than 50 peer reviewed publications. His teaching includes courses on renewable energy, power and control engineering at both under- and postgraduate levels.
  • Dr Kiprakis is Senior Member of the IEEE and Member of the IET, an Associate Editor of the IET Smart Grid Journal and Guest Editor for the Special Issue on Marine Energy and the Special Issue on Data-Driven Methods in Modern Power Engineering of the MDPI Energies Journal.
