From August 1 to 3, Prof. Changying Zhao, Dean of the China-UK Low Carbon College of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, led a delegation to visit the college’s strategic partners in the UK, including the University of Edinburgh, University of Warwick, and University College London.

On August 1, the delegation visited the University of Edinburgh and met with Prof. Iain Gordon, Vice Principal of UoE, Prof. Neil Robertson, Dean International Partnerships of College of Science and Engineering, Prof. Margaret Graham, Edinburgh Lead LCC Partnership, Prof. Lindsay Jaacks, Director of Edinburgh Earth Initiative; Prof. Gareth Harrison, Head of Engineering, Prof. Gavin Jack, Dean of Business School, Prof. Bryne Ngwenya, Head of GeoSciences, Prof. Markus Mueller, lead of Energy@Edinburgh, and also Ian Hatch, Head of Business Development at Edinburgh Innovation. Both sides reviewed the achievements of collaborations between SJTU and UoE in the field of low carbon during the past seven years and carried out productive discussions on the future plan. Both universities are determined to further deepening and widening the strategic cooperation based on the existing dual master's and joint seed fund programmes.

On August 2, the LCC delegation visited the University of Warwick and met with the senior management team and representatives of Warwick Business School (WBS), School of Engineering and the Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), including Prof. Ross Ritchie, Associate Dean of WBS, Prof. David Elmes, Academic Director of Global Energy MBA Programme; Prof. Peter Gammon, Associate Dean of Engineering, and Prof. Darek Ceglarek, Manufacturing Theme Lead of WMG. Both sides are keen to strengthen collaborations in the low carbon related areas, with a focus on joint teaching, joint PhD, seed fund, research workshops, summer school, etc.

On August 3, LCC held a young scholar seminar at University College London which attracted many early-career scholars. The attendees each exchanged their research interests and perspectives on how to achieve net zero carbon emissions. The Low Carbon College is committed to continuously exploring solutions to low-carbon/zero-carbon emissions with global partners and scholars in the low-carbon field thus to contribute to global sustainable development.

Through this visit, LCC has strengthened its strategic partnerships with the first-class universities in the UK, built a platform for high-level talent exchange, and further enhanced the international influence of the college.
