On October 14, 2024, Salman Asim, Senior Economist from the Global Education Practice of the World Bank, led a delegation to visit the China-UK Low Carbon College at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Prof. Changying Zhao, Dean of the LCC, along with several faculty representatives, engaged in in-depth discussions with the delegation on potential areas of collaboration.
At the start of the meeting, Dean Zhao warmly welcomed the World Bank delegation and provided a comprehensive overview of the college’s achievements in graduate education, scientific research, executive training, international cooperation, and faculty development.
Salman Asim expressed his gratitude for the college’s hospitality and introduced the World Bank's "Green Energy Sector Skills Research Project," which is being piloted in four provinces across China.
Both sides exchanged insights and experiences on China’s green energy transition and explored potential collaboration in research topics, international conferences, as well as student internship opportunities.
The visit laid a strong foundation for future partnerships, marking a new phase of cooperation between the Low Carbon College and World Bank in promoting global low-carbon development and education.
