From April 15 to 16, 2025, a delegation from the China-UK Low Carbon College (LCC) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), led by Dean Professor Changying Zhao, visited Singapore to officially inaugurate the LCC Southeast Asia Center and strengthen international academic collaboration.

The inauguration ceremony was held at SJTU’s Asia-Pacific Graduate Institute in Singapore and marked a significant milestone in the college’s regional outreach efforts. The LCC Southeast Asia Center was jointly unveiled by SJTU Party Secretary Zhenbin Yang and Minister-Counsellor Jun Han from the Chinese Embassy in Singapore. The establishment of the center reflects LCC's commitment to advancing global low-carbon initiatives through academic cooperation and innovation-driven partnerships in Southeast Asia.

The LCC delegation also engaged in productive discussions with leading academic institutions in Singapore. At the National University of Singapore (NUS), the delegation met with Prof. LEE Poh Seng and representatives from the Department of Mechanical Engineering to explore avenues for future collaboration, including joint educational programs, student and faculty exchange opportunities, and co-development of research projects.

The visit continued with meetings at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), where the LCC delegation held talks with Prof. Zhou Kun and Prof. Charles Yang from the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Prof. Chu Jian, Chair of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Discussions focused on potential synergies in dual masters, student and faculty exchange, research workshops, etc.

The visit underscores LCC’s strategic vision to expand its international presence and deepen academic exchange with top-tier institutions across Southeast Asia. Through its new center and ongoing collaborations, LCC continues to position itself as a leader in global low-carbon research and education.
