On June 10, 2026 (the Fourth) Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo in Technologies, Products and Achievements held a grand opening ceremony at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC). Shanghai Jiao Tong University joined forces with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) Shanghai Branch to co-organize the event, utilizing a dual-drive approach of “Finance + Technology” to explore the establishment of a virtuous cycle platform linking “universities, industry and finance”, and to jointly write a new chapter in green, low-carbon and high-quality development.

At the event, the China-UK Low Carbon College (LCC) and the ICBC Shanghai Xuhui Branch signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The two parties will engage in in-depth strategic cooperation in areas such as green finance innovation, carbon neutrality research think tank, talent development through industry-education integration, and the commercialization of low-carbon technological achievements. Together, they will support the development of Shanghai as an international green finance hub and the “dual carbon” initiatives in the Yangtze River Delta, whilst establishing a long-term, stable and mutually beneficial partnership between ICBC and LCC.

In the “Finance + Technology” theme exhibition area, research achievements by LCC faculty members —— including the Vice Dean of LCC, Professor Lou Ziyang, the Vice Dean of LCC, Associate Professor Dong Xue, Associate Professor Zhang Yuquan and Associate Professor Han Weiji —— were showcased and became highlights of the event. The research achievements include: an AI-intent-driven industrial agent platform, solid waste carbon labelling assessment technology for “zero-waste cities”, the Siyuan Carbon Intelligence AI carbon accounting platform, low-carbon transition in the power sector: coordinated carbon-resource governance, and a new battery management system featuring dynamic reconfiguration and AI-driven technology. Meanwhile, Assistant Professor Song Dongping used colour illustrations of “Global Ocean Circulation” and a tellurion to educate the audience about natural carbon sinks, explaining the operating principles of the ocean conveyor belt —— this “blue lifeline” connecting the world’s oceans and climate systems —— and its importance in maintaining the stability of the Earth’s climate.

Moving forward, LCC and the ICBC Shanghai Xuhui Branch will take this strategic partnership agreement as a starting point to continue deepening the collaborative model of “technology empowering finance, and finance supporting scientific research”, thereby establishing a demonstration sample of collaboration between ICBC and LCC to drive green and low-carbon development.
During this Carbon Expo, LCC entered into a strategic partnership with Shanghai Industrial Eco-Innovation Service Hub and signed a cooperation agreement. Both parties will focus on the objective of establishing a carbon footprint calculation platform, leveraging their respective strengths to engage in in-depth collaboration across multiple areas, including joint platform development, the formulation of standards and scientific research & technological breakthrough, thereby continuously expanding the scope of their cooperation to achieve complementary advantages and mutually beneficial development.
