LCC Held 2022 Green for Life International Summer School

The 2022 Green for Life International Online Summer School of the SJTU China-UK Low Carbon College has officially started on June 27, 2022. Thirty-six international students and twenty-seven local students joined summer school this year.

On the first day, Tao Ren, Assistant Dean and Associate Professor of the Low Carbon College gave a welcome speech to all the summer school students and introduced the college.

After Dr. Ren's speech, there was a virtual visit to the laboratory. Following the camera and with the introduction of LCC students, the participants visited four laboratories of the Low Carbon College, covering cutting-edge and popular fields such as waste recycling, intelligent waste sorting, and biomass burning. The participants were impressed by the tidy laboratory, numerous experimental instruments, excellent experimental staff and outstanding academic achievements.

After the lab tour, the group discussion began, and the members of the summer school were divided into eight teams, led and guided by eight LCC teachers. Every team will cooperate, and complete a project on low carbon area. The project presentation will be on Friday.

In the afternoon, Patrik Sadin & Lin Zhang from The Natural step gave a lecture on Sustainability system perspectives.

On the second day, Professor Yi Dou from the University of Tokyo gave a lecture on Japan's Energy and Environment Strategies towards Carbon Neutral Target 2050.

Professor Vinod Kumar of Cranfield University mainly explained about Waste-based Biorefineries for Sustainable Production of Biochemicals.

On June 29, Professor Jo-Han Ng from the University of Southampton conducted a more in-depth analysis of biofuels, explaining the sustainability of biofuels from the perspective of Energy-Waste-Food.

Mr. Yao Lu from Queen Mary University of London talked about "How can Functional Surfaces contribute to Carbon Neutralisation?".

The lectures on "SDG 7: Post COVID-19 ENERGY Sustainability and Carbon Emissions Neutrality" by Prof. Cheng Tung Chong and "Modelling and Health State Estimation" by Prof. Changfu Zou are scheduled on 30 June, and the "Climate investment and Finance" lecture by Professor Xi Liang is scheduled on 1 July, followed by the Closing Ceremony.
