City Journey, Savoring the Cultural Essence; International Friendship, Composing Harmonious Melodies.

On the afternoon of November 4th, the LCC "City Walk: A Stroll through Culture" event was successfully held. LCC international students and volunteers embraced the concept of low carbon living and embarked on a journey of urban exploration in Shanghai through eco-friendly transportation.

First stop: Inheriting the spirit of the revolutionary site,

walking through the history of the city

"To understand China today, one must understand the Communist Party of China." The site of the first National Congress of the Communist Party of China, also known as the "Site of the First National Congress," is located at No. 76 Xingye Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai. It was built in the autumn of 1920. It is an old brick and wood structure, with one floor and one basement, facing north and south. The simple and ancient building carries a rich historical heritage. From July 23rd to July 30th, 1921, the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held here. This place is not only the birthplace of the Communist Party of China but also the spiritual home of Chinese communists.

Walking through the exhibition hall of the site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, looking at the displayed revolutionary artifacts, documents, and historical photos, everyone seemed to see the scene of the meeting at that time: Mao Zedong passionately delivering a speech, Dong Biwu listening attentively, Li Da smiling knowingly. The lifelike wax figures freeze the great moment, giving a great shock to the domestic and foreign students.

Second stop: The fusion of Chinese and Western cultures in the Xing Park,

strengthening friendship through games.

After finishing the journey to the site of the First National Congress, the group arrived at Xing Park. Xing Park is the only garden in Shanghai that combines Chinese and French classical styles, representing the fusion of Chinese and Western garden cultures in modern Shanghai. On the broad lawn, under the gentle breeze, Chinese and international students engaged in games such as visual games and swings, filling the air with laughter and joy.

This event had a small surprise, which was that everyone prepared a beverage to share with others, using a "blind box" method to exchange and try different drinks. This magical taste experience not only deepened the friendship between everyone but also enhanced the trust among them, allowing them to experience the power of teamwork.

Third stop: Moutai Cultural Experience Hall,

the Chinese culture hidden in a glass of liquor.

How to dispel worries? Only with a glass of liquor. The wine culture in China has a long history. In the afternoon tea activity included in the "City Walk," the group visited the Moutai Liquor Cultural Experience Hall, which represents Chinese liquor culture. In the experience hall, they learned about the brewing process and historical background of Moutai liquor, admired the various wine bottle packaging, smelled the subtle differences between the light fragrance and sauce fragrance types of Moutai liquor, tasted the rich flavors brought by different ratios of Moutai liquor, and even tried Moutai-flavored ice cream... This immersive experience overturned everyone's understanding of traditional baijiu (Chinese liquor) and allowed them to truly experience the profound Chinese liquor culture hidden in the glass.

Fourth stop: Sinan Road - a historical road that combines art and trends

Through the "city ride," everyone arrived at the fourth stop of the day's activity - Sinan Road. With a low-carbon mode of transportation, they explored Sinan Road, which is full of historical charm and French atmosphere. They visited Sinan Mansion, Sinan Open-Air Museum, and Sinan Bookstore.

The walls of the old foreign houses on both sides of Sinan Mansion have a natural and simple undulation, carrying a touchable sense of history, making people curious about the stories that once happened behind those walls.

Sinan Bookstore was originally the sea residence of the patriotic general Feng Yuxiang. The first floor is a maze-like area dedicated to history and philosophy. The second floor is connected to the literature area, the Shanghai area, and the coffee area. The third floor is an exhibition area for cultural and artistic books. The different areas create diverse cultural spaces. The collision between the old foreign houses and new books, combined with the fragrance of coffee, provided a unique experience for Chinese and international students, blending literature and aroma.

Fifth stop: Tian Zi Fang cultural and creative district

The final stop of the "City Walk" was set in the relaxed and pleasant Tian Zi Fang. While experiencing the lively atmosphere of the small lanes in Tian Zi Fang, everyone collected interesting stamps in groups, further enhancing the understanding and appreciation of Shanghai's Tian Zi Fang culture among the Chinese and international students, and deeply experiencing the ambiance of old Shanghai.

During the stamp collecting activity, each group carefully prepared small gifts for members of other groups, such as "Hand-drawn Maps of Shanghai," "Wukang Road Refrigerator Magnets," "Historical-style Postcards," etc. At the end of the event, everyone exchanged gifts, expressing their goodwill, and took group photos as a memento.

As the evening approached, the day's itinerary came to an end. "City Walk" allowed Chinese and international students to truly integrate into the city of Shanghai, feel its pulse and temperature, and gain a deeper understanding of the real China and the real Shanghai. In the future, they may share their thoughts and experiences with more people and play an active role in promoting understanding and communication among people from different countries.
